Personal data relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data. Identification can be by the information alone or in conjunction with any other information in the data controller’s possession or likely to come into such possession. The processing of personal data is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation (the “GDPR”).

Centre of Compassion Study Group is the data controller (contact details below). This means it decides how your personal data is processed and for what purposes.

Centre of Compassion Study Group complies with its obligations under the “GDPR” by keeping personal data up to date; by storing and destroying it securely; by not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data; by protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure and by ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data. We use your personal data for the following purposes:
● To inform you of news, events, volunteering opportunities, study programmes and services running at the Centre of Compassion Study Group and other affiliated FPMT centres / projects / services / study groups;
● To administer any Friends Scheme and study programmes;
● To fundraise and promote the interests of the group;
● To manage any employees, volunteers and tenants;
● To maintain our own accounts and records (including the processing of any gift aid applications, and registration of guests using our accommodation).
4. What is the legal basis for processing your personal data?
● Explicit consent from you so that we can keep you informed about:
o Our newsletter, events, activities, study programmes and other services organised by Centre of Compassion Study Group;
o Opportunities to participate in the development of Centre of Compassion Study Group and other affiliated FPMT bodies including volunteering and fundraising.
● When processing is necessary for carrying out legal obligations.
● The legitimate interest condition is when we process your personal data for the purpose of complying with your request for example:
o enrolment / registration for events, study programmes, Friends Schemes,
o administering your donation (including for the purpose of financial auditing)
We may also contact you to inform you about products or services similar to what we have provided to you previously.
● In all correspondence, we will give you the option to opt out.
● We do not collect sensitive data about you unless there is a clear reason for doing so.
5. Sharing your personal data
Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of Centre of Compassion Study Group. We will only share your data with third parties outside of Centre of Compassion Study Group by obtaining further consent from you. We currently use Gmail to store our mailing list data and will always give you the option to unsubscribe when we write to you.

Our website is hosted by Weebly, where you can register your details to book events, via Eventbrite or to sign up as a Friend. Please see Weebly Privacy Policy here. ● The right to request that Centre of Compassion Study Group corrects any personal data if it is found to be inaccurate or out of date;
● The right to request your personal data is erased where it is no longer necessary for Centre of Compassion Study Group to retain such data;
● The right to withdraw your consent to the processing at any time;
● The right to request that Centre of Compassion Study Group provides you with your personal data and where possible, to transmit that data directly to another data controller, (known as
the right to data portability);
● The right, where there is a dispute in relation to the accuracy or processing of your personal data, to request a restriction is placed on further processing;
● The right to object to the processing of personal data, (where applicable);

If we wish to use your personal data for a new purpose, not covered by this Data Protection Notice, then we will provide you with a new notice explaining this new use prior to commencing the processing and setting out the relevant purposes and processing conditions.
